GROUP & Bus TOURS
Self-guided or guided tour experiences are available by appointment year-round for groups of 15 or more. Groups must have 15 people to book at the discounted group rate.
Guided Tour Option (for groups 15-45):
A traditional lecture tour led by a docent that examines Mary’s life from childhood through widowhood incorporating artifacts and furnishings.
Self-Guided Tour Option (for groups 15-45+):
A self-guided experience through the house at your own pace. The tour examines Mary’s life from childhood to widowhood. Visitors read labels and/or listen to an audio tour after a short introduction by a docent. Docents are available for questions.
-Groups over 15 people are divided into sub-groups and tour simultaneously.
-Allow about 60 minutes for the self-guided and guided tour and 30 minutes for the museum store/bathroom facilities, etc. Tours can be shortened upon request.
-Complimentary admission for professional tour director and bus driver.
-Advance booking required - at least 2 weeks before your visit.
-Rates during regular hours (9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Monday- Saturday) are: $18 for 15 or more visitors for the guided tour; $13 for 15 or more visitors for the self-guided tour. (If your group is less than 15 people, please buy your tickets online using the “Book Visit” button.)
-When booking outside regular hours, add $2 per visitor for each of the following that apply: before 9:30 a.m., after 4 p.m. (Monday – Saturday).
-Payment must be received in one lump sum (not paid individually).

SCHOOL TOURS
School tours, including for homeschoolers, are available for grades 1-12 by appointment year-round. Groups must have 15 people (including students, teachers, chaperones) to book the tour.
Guided Tour Options (for groups of 15-45):
Grades 1-5 - An interactive tour that explores Mary’s childhood and the White House years through observation and discussion, stories, and hands-on activities.
Grades 6-12 - A traditional lecture tour led by a docent that examines Mary’s life from childhood through widowhood incorporating artifacts and furnishings.
Self-guided Tour Option (for groups of 45+):
Grades 6-12 – A self-guided experience through the house at your own pace. The tour examines Mary’s life from childhood to widowhood. Students read labels and/or listen to an audio tour after a short introduction by a docent. Docents are available for questions.
-For guided tours, school groups are divided into sub-groups of 15 and tour simultaneously.
-For self-guided or guided tours, a teacher or adult chaperone is required for every 15 students.
-Allow 60 minutes for all school tour options. Tours can be shortened upon request.
-Advance booking required - at least 2 weeks before your visit.
-Payment is due 1 week before the tour date. And must be received in one lump sum (not paid individually).
-Rates are $6 per student; $8 per teacher and required chaperones; $13 per other adult chaperone. Reduced admission is available for schools when 50% or more of students are eligible for the federal free and reduced lunch program.
-While our grounds are not big enough for picnicking, we are adjacent to Gatton Park on the Town Branch and you can eat lunch there with prior approval.

GIRL SCOUT TOURS
Brownie and Junior Girl Scout troops can schedule a special self-guided tour that focuses on women’s history. At the museum, scouts get a scavenger hunt to use on their self-guided tour of the house. When they leave, the troop gets Mary Todd Lincoln buttons, craft kits, and a game to play at home.
The program is available by appointment. Rates are $6 per scout, $6 per leader, $10 per other adult chaperone. Scout groups of any age with 15 or more in the group can schedule a standard self-guided tour for $4 per scout, $6 per leader, $10 per other adult chaperone. Further information here.
